About me
My academic and professional background
I am Sofia, and I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling from the Psychosynthesis Trust, and I am a qualified member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have a MA in Interdisciplinary Psychology from Leeds Beckett University and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Nottingham.
In parallel to my private practice, I have been working in school settings for over three years, supporting students with neurodiversity (particularly ADHD and Autism). I enjoy working with those who feel their minds work differently from the norm and helping them embrace their unique way of perceiving and looking at the world.
I also have years of experience working with individuals of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness meditation with the Dhamma Nikethanaya Buddhist Centre for Education, Meditation, Psychotherapy & Counselling, and I bring this mindful approach into my work and everyday life.
I support those undergoing personal and spiritual transformation, offering guidance through the often challenging and sometimes painful shifts in self-awareness and perception of the world.
I believe that therapy is about a real human-to-human connection. For this reason, in the section below I would like to share a bit about who I am and what inspires my work, so you can get a feel for whether we are a good fit.
